The Early Years Foundation Stage Profile (EYFSP) moderation visit is ideal for schools with teachers who are new to early years and the EYFS and are completing the Early Years profile at the end of reception year.

The visit is designed to support new Early Years teachers to have confidence in the robustness of their judgements.

How does the EYFSP moderation work?

The EYFSP takes the form of a half-day face to face visit and includes:

  • An opportunity for practitioners to develop a clear understanding of the EYFSP, including best-fit principle

  • Professional discussion with teachers and practitioners about what children know, understand, and can do

  • A review of existing practices and systems for gaining a shared understanding of children’s strengths, interests and next-step learning needs

  • Reflective discussion about the use of summative assessment to support those at risk of underachievement, particularly those in receipt of additional funding

  • A moderation session with early years practitioners to develop a shared understanding of children's development stages

  • A detailed report outlining strengths and key areas for development

An EYFSP moderation half day visit can be arranged to validate and agree early years profile assessment judgements at the end of the Early Years Foundation Stage.
